After almost four decades of serving the community, the Australian Islamic Mission is in a unique position to deliver a unique asset to the Australian Muslim community.

So what's the project all about?

After completing the purchase and acquisition of several properties on Matthews St Punchbowl, the Australian Islamic Mission successfully won unanimous approval from Canterbury City Council to develop this project. Following nearly fourteen months of deliberations, on Thursday 13th of August 2009, Canterbury City Council approved the project proposal to build a new mosque and primary school on the Australian Islamic Mission premises.

The project will consist of three primary components:

  • Mosque
  • Primary (K-6) school; and
  • Three level underground car park that can accommodate over 160 vehicles

The project will deliver and produce a unique development containing a mosque, school and other educational facilities. Not only will the traditional elements of a mosque be present but modern design and architecture will ensure the site will encompass Islamic style and environmental concerns.
